European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
London Underground is to cut up to 800 jobs under plans to make savings of £16m a year. The cuts will include 100 managers, 450 ticket office posts and up to 200 other jobs. The company said it had completely ruled out compulsory redundancies and would look at re-deploying staff. The redundancies are blamed on the increasing use of the pre-paid Oyster card, and a "sharp decline" in tickets sold at station ticket offices in recent years.
