European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 23 March 2010, publishing company Jahreszeiten Verlag announced it would be cutting around 70 out of 420 total jobs. The management of the publishing company wants to fully restructure the business and lay off every editor without an executive position. Each of its ten magazines is to be published with a core team. Articles and graphic arts are to be provided by freelancers. A spokesperson of the management stated that enforced redundancies could not be avoided. Other cost saving measures, such as short-time work, had not compensated for the drop in sales. The restructuring is to be completed by mid 2010. Talks between the works' council and management are still ongoing, however.
