Description
Construction equipment manufacturer Bobcat plans to cut 130 jobs at its Pontchâteau unit in western France. The company has suffered a 50% drop in orders during the recession and sees no sign of a recovery soon. Unions plan to protest against the number of layoffs, with fears also that the entire research and development unit may be offshored to the Czech Republic soon. The restructuring plan is highly controversial for local politicians too as Bobcat had received €400,000 public aid in 2008.
