Description
On 29 October 2010, car manufacturer Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych (FSO) announced a collective dismissal programme affecting 1,823 employees (731 workers employed at the direct production, 592 workers at the indirect production and 500 others). The programme will be implemented by the end of March 2011. The dismissals are a consequence of the end of the license for Chevrolet Aveo (General Motors) production. The FSO will function in truncated form - it will manage several companies among 12 from FSO Żerań Group.
The FSO plant was established in 1951 by the Polish government to produce cars for post World War II Poland. After the structural transformations the company was privatized in 1995.
