Description
On 11 January 2012 the Hungarian government has decided to cut the employment of the public sector by 6,719 employees. The government has explained its decision with the targeted compliance of the year's budget deficit and with the creation of an efficient state performance.
The heads of each affected ministry and department can apply for funding from the state budget to cover the extra expenses occuring from the payments of compensations, and may decide for even more dismissals.
To support the dismissed people, the government creates a so-called Carrier Bridge Programme. There are no more detailed information publically available yet.
The dismissals will start from the 18 January 2012, with the affected numbers of work places below detailed:

Further dismissals are announced at the National Weather Service, national museums, cultural-, art- and sport institutions too. The Ministry of Defence is the only one which was not affected by the decision taken.
