Description
On 5 January 2012, railway operator Śląski Zakład Przewozów Regionalnych in Katowice announced plans to implement a collective dismissal programme affecting 139 employees.
However, trade union representatives fear that the staff reduction could affect up to 700 people due to lower than expected public financial support from the Śląskie Voivodeship. It is reported that the company will get about 90 mln PLN of support instead of 100 mln PLN as initially predicted.
Unionists are voicing disappointment about the lack of collective bargaining throughout the process. They announced protests.
