The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Cash and carry chain Makro is to cut some 328 jobs in Portugal, affecting about 20% of its workforce, by the end of the year. 179 job cuts will be carried out by means of voluntary departures. The remaining ones will be cut through collective dismissals.
Other cost cutting measures include the merger with Spanish Makro by a single management board. The Portuguese office will continue to exist but without duplication of roles with Spanish Makro.
Makro will also close its store in Aveiro on 15 July and dismiss all employees.
