European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Lanxess will restructure its fine chemicals subsidiary Saltigo. In Germany, about 200 jobs will be cut at Saltigo, 180 of them in Leverkusen. In the US, the facility in Redmond will be closed down. Lanxess, however, stresses that the reduction of jobs will not be reached by forced redundancies.
Due to an increasingly challenging business environment for pharmaceutical production, the company has decided to focus on its core business of agro-chemical products.
