Description
Finnish window and door manufacturer Fenestra has announced redundancies of up to 140 employees from its window production business. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the proposed cuts.
Fenestra has approx. 700 employees in Finland, but the restructuring would only affect its window production, which has been unprofitable for years. The company has several plants in Finland, put particular attention focuses on the Forssa plant, which may be reduced, moved, or have its production outsourced.
The timeline for the restructuring is not known yet.
Updated, 20-08-2012: Fenestra has concluded negotiations and announced the closure of its Forssa plant. Fenestra's window production will be concentrated in Kuopio. In Forssa, 106 employees will be dismissed. The Kuopio plant has currently 90 employees, but half of them have been laid off temporarily.
