Description
Danish construction toymaker LEGO has announced plans to expand its production at the Kladno site and to create between 200 and 250 new jobs in 2013 with an additional 200 per year until 2015. In 2012, the firm increased the number of jobs by 150. The company is also to invest in a new packing hall.
Lego has been operating in Kladno since 2000 and currently employs about 1,400 permanent staff and 600 agency workers.
The firm is one of the largest employers in the region. Last year, the Kladno factory prospered economically. According to the report, the company increased the revenues from sales of products and services to more than 5.5 billion from 4.3 billion CZK. Last year's pre-tax profit amounted to almost 166 million CZK (64 million in 2010).
Lego Group has four factories around the world and employs a total of 11,000 people (7,000 in Europe). The Kladno facility is currently the second largest and after its further expansion is expected to become the largest LEGO production unit in 2014.
