European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
RCS Media Group, an Italian media group, has announced plans to cut 800 jobs. The job reduction measures will affect employees in both Italy and Spain and form part of the company’s drive to improve its cost efficiency. According to news reports the majority of these job cuts will be carried out in Italy (680). The company states that it has already been in touch with its European Works Council and will consult with the unions during the coming weeks. A timeline for the restructuring is not yet known.
The group publishes both newspapers and magazines and has representations across Spain, Portugal, the UK, the US, and China. The RCS Media Group currently employs around 5,900 staff.
