Description
On 18 February 2013 the Mayor of Budapest, István Tarlós, confirmed the Council’s decision to dismiss 100-200 employees.
The decision is based on the fact that the governemnt had made changes to the way public institutions are run. Therefore many primary schools, hospitals, care homes are now administrated by the state and many of the Council’s functions have become obsolete.
Approximately 20% of the Council’s job roles are now redundant. Further debates on the issue will be carried out at the end of February.
