European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Pharmaceutical company Roche recently announced its plan to close down its Applied Science Business Area by the end of 2013 in an attempt to streamline its business. The move will result in an overall headcount reduction of 170 staff. According to the company, 110 employees will be affected in Penzberg (Germany) (see Roche-DE2013) and 60 in Brandford, CT (US).
The company, which has headquarters in Basel, said that it remains committed to finding socially responsible solutions for staff affected by the redundancies. Roche currently employs more than 80,000 staff worldwide and previously announced large scale job reductions in 2010 (see Roche-WO2010).
