Description
German multinational Siemens announced the cut of 2,900 jobs in its industry divisions in Germany. This is due to falling demand. Siemens plans to close two of its four mechanical drives factories,; this is going to result in 500 job losses. 200 additional jobs shall be offshored to the Czech Republic (Siemens- CZ2013). The remaining job cuts affect administration (500 jobs) and sales (1,700 jobs). Worldwide, Siemens aims to reduce workforce by 3,000 and save 6 billion euros (planned before the end of 2014).
