Description
On June 12 2013 the American multinational company IBM announced plans to reduce its global workforce by 6,000-8,000 positions in an attempt to cut costs. IBM currently employs around 434,000 staff worldwide and aims at cutting 2 pc of its workforce (mostly management staff across all levels). In Europe, Germany (700 job cuts), Italy (250 ones), and Denmark (128 ones) are all concerned by this plan.
IBM has recently started laying off workers in the US as part of previously announced restructuring measures. In Australia jobs are also expected to be cut.
Last year (2012) 200 jobs were already cut in Denmark (see here).
