European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Technip Offshore Finland, a manufacturer of oil drilling platforms, has announced up to 180 redundancies from its plant in Pori, Finland. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the cuts. Subject to negotiations are 350 office personnel of whom 180 are to be laid off permanently. The company is also negotiating for up to 150 temporary layoffs.
The negotiations are expected to last for 6 weeks. A union representative expressed surprise over the announcement and described the scale of planned redundancies as 'excessive.'
The restructuring is due to the lack of new orders which may lead to further cuts in autumn 2013, if the situation does not improve.

Updated, 09-08-2013: Technip has confirmed dismissal of 160 office personnel. In addition, there will be temporary layoffs of another 160 office personnel.
