The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 22 August 2013, Łódź Local Goverment announced its plans to reduce employment in the local schools by 103 jobs. The employment status of the remaining 388 teachers is expected to be changed as they will be employed on a part-time basis.
Dismissals are attributed to the "baby bust" (since 2004 the population of pupils in Poland has reduced by 1.5 million people ).
The Ministry of National Education and the Polish Teachers’ Union estimate that about 7,700 teachers will lose their jobs in 2013 across Poland.
