European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Thales Alenia Space, producer of satellite systems and orbital infrastructures, has announced to cut about 270 positions by 2015.
According to the management, this is to restore the group’s competitiveness in a time of weak demand. The company aims at reducing its costs by 20pc until mid-2015.
The cuts will be implemented via voluntary departures.
Thales Alenia Space has 7,500 employees in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium and United States. The company is owned by Thales group (67pc) and Finmeccanica group (33pc). In 2012, Thales Avionics, another subsidiary of the Thales group, had announced to create 200 jobs.
