Description
Finnish meat producer HK Scan plans an internal restructuring, resulting in the loss of 140 jobs at the sites in Skara and Örebro. Furthermore, the company is to create 40 jobs in Linköping and Kristianstad. The net employment effect hence is the loss of 100 jobs.
The plan is to centralise the production and enhance efficiency. All slaughtering and butchering of pigs are to be conducted in Kristianstad (Skåne) and Siljans Chark (Dalarna), leading to a loss of jobs in Skara and Örebro. The sites in Skara and Örebro will continue producing ready meals such as Swedish meatballs and hamburgers.
Negotiations with trade unions have been finalised.
The ERM previously reported on restructurings at the same company in 2012, 2009 and 2007.
Updated 26/05/2014: Negotiations with trade unions have now concluded and an agreement was made that 127 jobs will be cut at the site in Skara.
