Morgan Advanced Materials has announced that it is to halve its workforce at its site in Swansea, South Wales. The company which makes electrical components currently employs 220 people at the site. Plans are in place to cut the numbers employed by between 100 and 120. The job cuts will be carried out over an eighteen month period. The company owns numerous plants around the world and has decided to restructure the electrical materials part of the business.
The company has begun the process of consulting employee representatives, and has stated that it will aim to avoid compulsory redundancies.
