European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The University of Zielona Góra has announced that it will cut 100 jobs among its technical and administrative staff. The source reports that these job cuts are a result of a restructuring programme that was implemented because of financial difficulties at the University.
According to the source, there have been negotiations between local trade unions and the authorities of the University; however an agreement has not been reached. The trade unions do not accept the conditions of the restructuring programme and they do not approve of the redundancies.
The University of Zielona Góra employs about 1500 people: 900 researchers and scientists and 600 people are employed in administration and technical departments.
