European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Swedish state owned mining company LKAB has been granted to start mining activities in Mertainen resulting in the creation of 500-700 new jobs. The mining activities will commence after the approval from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management that in the past opposed to mining activities in the area due to environmental concerns. In the area three mines will open and the project is considered the Europe's biggest iron ore project at the moment. The timeframe for the job creation is not known yet.
