European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Finland- based pulp, paper and timber manufacturer UPM-Kymmene is to close down one of its two paper machines at its manufacturing site in Chapelle d'Arblay at Grand-Courrone (Seine-Maritime). As reported, the cost-cutting measure will affect 196 jobs and is part of a European-wide restructuring plan to reduce paper production at four plants in Europe involving in total 550 job cuts (see EU ERM Factsheet). According to the sources, the restructuring is due to a declining demand in print media and overcapacities. The timeline of the restructuring is not known yet but is expected to take place by the end of 2015.
