Description
South African paper and packaging producer, Mondi, is to close a paper mill in Lohja, Finland. According to the Finnish trade union organisation Pro, the closure will result in 180 people losing their jobs.
Mondi is planning to hand out redundancy letters and cease production by end of May 2015. The shutdown process will commence mid-June 2015.
Mondi employs around 25,000 people across more than 30 countries, predominantly in central Europe, Russia and South Africa. The ERM reported on reductions at Mondi's site in Lohja in 2008.
