Slovak fish breeding company Agro-Rybia Farma will create about 100 new jobs in Handlova during May or June 2016. Agro-Rybia Farma is a subsidiary of the Slovak brown coal mining firm Hornonitrianske Bane Prievidza (HBP) and is using the lukewarm water produced from neighbouring mines for the breeding. The farm plans to launch the full operations of its fresh water farm breeding of African catfish before the second half of 2016. It currently has around 250,000 of the catfish in its breeding program, accounting for about 40% of its capacity. The farm is built on 3,660 square metres of land with a €12.50 million investment.
