European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The public tender by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) published in the latest issue of the Official Gazette announces new job offers for 550 soldiers and marines. Their service begins 4th October 2016. MOD offers contracts for four year, with a trial period that lasts for 6 months.
It is partly due the rejuvenation of the existing staff of the Army and the Ministry of Defence employs as many troops as there are released places within the system. For comparison, the Ministry of Defence in active military service in 2015 employed 550 soldiers and marines, in 2014 year 936 and in 2013 about 450. The service was terminated for 614 soldiers in 2015, 826 in 2014 and 282 in 2013. Since 2015, soldiers have signed a professional four-year contract. A significant number of these soldiers are still in service. The average duration of service lasts across two or three contracts, while if they stay longer, they are entitled to a pension.
100 new soldiers and marines will perform critical tasks that require adequate training and experience, like drivers of heavy trucks, armoured vehicles and tanks. The average net salary of active duty soldiers is around HRK 4500 (EUR 600) which is approximately 75% of the average net salary in Croatia (HRK 6000 or EUR 800).
UPDATE 04/10/2016: The Ministry of Defense signed the contracts with 550 new recruits. There are 63 women and 487 men and the average age is 22 years old. The Ministry of Defense has thus fulfilled their original 2016 recruiting plans which envisaged 800 new soldiers and officers.
