Description
German company Flixbus is to cut 210 jobs as part of a de-deduplication effort following their purchase of Megabus Europe from Scottish company Stagecoach. 50 of the jobs will be lost in Germany, with a further 160 in Belgium and Italy. The initial purchase was confirmed at the beginning of July, with further details of the plans obtained by German magazine "Panorama 3" in September. The reason for the redundancies is the conflicting business models of Flixbus and Stagecoach; Flixbus subcontracts its drivers, meaning that those who had a contract with Megabus were no longer needed. Panorama 3 reports that other opportunities within the company were available to those made redundant, but does not give details on what these were.
