The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Austrian carrier Austrian Airlines (AUA), part of the German Lufthansa Group, is to hire 320 new employees in the upcoming year. According to newspaper reports, new staff is required for the operation of two new Airbus aircraft and to serve new long-distance destinations. Lufthansa is investing more than €100 million in AUA to establish it as a premium carrier. Recent rumours that AUA could be merged with the group's budget airline Eurowings were dismissed. Currently, AUA is employing 6,336 people.
Last year, AUA already hired 160 pilots and 400 flight attendants, as Eurofound reported previously (EF AUA 2016).
