European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 21 March 2017, graphite specialist SGL Carbon announced to cut nearly 200 jobs by the end of 2018. Already in September 2016 the group had started the current restructuring programme. Job cuts are to help realise savings of around €25 million. In addition, SGL plans to restructure its business to improve its profitability. Research and development, production and sales will concentrate on carbon fibre and special graphite products. Already in 2016, the company had realised job cuts in Germany (see SGL 2016).
SGL employs over 5,300 staff worldwide.
