Description
The French car manufacturing group PSA announced plans to recruit 1,000 temporary workers for its plant of Sochaux (Doubs) to create a week-end team (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) to cater for requests due to the success of its new model of 3008 and the construction of a new Opel. In this industry, temporary workers are hired for over 6 months as they receive a long training before starting their job. In the plant, the number of temporary workers will reach 2,500 employees out of a total workforce of 9,000 permanent employment contract: a total of 11,500 employees are directly employed. Over the last two years, PSA Peugeot-Citroën has announced three employment reduction plans, with 400 losses in January 2014, 300 in September 2014 and 300 in June 2015. However, since 2016, two job creations were recorded (1,000 in July 2016; 150 in July 2016 also). But in October, the group announced a large reorganisation with 2,133 job reductions.
