European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Footwear company ECCO Slovakia has announced plans to create 160 new jobs in 2017 and 2018. After some years of downturn, attributed to the economic crisis and a decrease in sales in Russia, Danish shoe producer ECCO in Martin has improved its performance. In 2016, the factory in Martin, which makes shoes for both men and women, increased its production by 4% compared to the previous year to nearly 2.1 million pairs of shoes. In 2015, it had to dismiss more than 200 workers, which represented around 25% of its workforce at that time. Improved performance has allowed the factory to rehire around 100 staff in 2016 and due to the factory's business expansion a further 160 workers are to be hired in 2017 and 2018. In 2016, the company increased its revenues by 3% to €65.2 million, but this represents only just over 50% of the revenues generated back in 2012.
