Description
Clifton Mining, part of the Swerock construction material supplier company, is reducing its workforce by approximately 100 employees. The reductions are a consequence of Clifton Mining/Swerock failing to renewing a contract for operations for the LKAB mining company at the Svappavaara mine. Clifton Mining/Swerock hopes to win new contracts for nearby mines and to employ as many of their Svappavaara employees as possible in other locations.
The new Svappavaara contract was won by LTH, which will start its operations at the beginning of 2018. Some Clifton Mining/Swerock employees have found employment with LTH.
