European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Opel Manufacturing Poland has announced that it will launch the third phase of its voluntary departure programme in 2018. As a result, 170 positions are expected to be cut in the factory in Gliwice. Redundant workers will receive severance pay according to their seniority.
The first two phases of the programme were implemented respectively in February and April 2018, resulting in the redundancies of 465 workers. Additionally, by the end of 2018, around 200 employees will be relocated from the Gliwice factory to the plant in Tychy, where the production of engines has been launched. As of February 2018, the Gliwice factory has been working on a two instead of a three-shift basis, with a few hundred employees temporarily assigned to work abroad.
Opel belongs to France-based PSA group. As of October 2018, Opel employs over 3,000 people in Poland.
