Description
Radio France's management has presented a new restructuring plan that will lead to cut 270 to 390 jobs over three years. Management wants to negotiate a 'method agreement' with the trade unions on the conduct of the information and consultation process. The number of job cuts will depend on the concessions that unions accept during negotiations, such as the elimination of part of the days off. In light of a decrease in public subsidies, the management's objective is to save €25 million on payrolls. The announcement includes also the recruitment of 50 employees specialised in digital technologies, in particular in publishing programmes on new media. A previous restructuring affecting Radio France Internationale took place in 2009 (206 job cuts).
Currently Radio France employs 4,600 people.
Update 15/11/2019: Radio France's CEO presented on 14 November to the Central Social and Economic Committee (CSEC) the modalities for implementing the Radio France 2022 project, which includes 299 job cuts over three years. At the same time, 76 new jobs will be created, 50 of which require skills in digital technology that do not exist internally.
